God has a message for each person and each family. It is a plan for a unique, living history—the farthest thing from a routine. Precisely, as families, learning to recognize and realize “our story,” the one that God dreams for us together, would represent a great wealth.
Text
“The Gospel of the family spans the history of the world.” (The Joy of Love, n.63)
Commentary
We have become accustomed to listening to the Scriptures by paying attention to the people mentioned in them. On the other hand, we have also read them, searching for a message for each of us: what is God saying to me? How can we apply this message to our lives? A reading about singular characters is meant for individual readers.
The Scriptures go further. The relatives of these people are also present throughout the Bible. They are present as families, for each one, its own history. Not a dull, empty routine life, but the most exciting and unexpected and the most incredible things alive are reserved for each one.
There is a personal message in Scripture and one for our families. God speaks to each one. He has a message for the united whole they are—a message of the story of their lives and future generations. A possible tale offered to our freedom and ability to love each other; a fascinating story.
Like everything God engineers, it comes from his Love and Life. Therefore, the story that his message brings to our family is exciting, it surpasses all routine and is great, magnificent. It is extraordinary to discover it and put it into action.
