What are we in the face of a marriage´s fractures? We are always doctors and nurses, never executioners and undertakers. Who loves cares for the loved ones to heal them and does not condemn, abandon, or finish off the wounded.
Text
“Today, more important than the pastoral care of failures is the pastoral effort to strengthen marriages and thus to prevent their breakdown.” (The Joy of Love, n.307)
Commentary
There is an effort and complicity to defend minorities, the “rights” of the weak and marginalized in today’s society. Of course, we must help all those who have failed with the charity that characterizes Christians.
However, the vast majority of married couples face problems daily and struggle, sometimes on their own for too long, while attempting to consolidate their conjugal and family life. They are in particular need of help from those who may be closest to them.
A marriage that stands the test of time and does not fail is a good for their children and society. That is why it is necessary to preserve them, help them in a concrete way, and commit ourselves to them as if they were the apple of our eye.
